An LED-based luminaire for badminton court illumination

Abstract: In this paper, the design of a luminaire for badminton court illumination is demonstrated from concept through computer simulation, construction trials, on-site installation, comparison with simulations and, finally, evaluations of the illuminated environment before and after the installation of the luminaires. The luminaire is composed of two high-performance light-emitting diode lighting modules, volume scattering diffusers with a one-shot transmittance higher than 70% and a reflecting cavity with a reflecti… Show more

“…Secara umum, penggunaan simulasi dalam hal ini dapat menjadi metode alternatif yang lebih efisien dalam mengoptimalkan sistem pencahayaan lapangan bulu tangkis, dibandingkan dengan metode coba-coba [16], [17]. Dengan demikian, analisis sensitivitas dan optimisasi dengan simulasi untuk sistem pencahayaan elektrik pada kasus gedung olah raga yang diamati ini telah berhasil dijalankan dengan efektif.…”

“…White light emitting diodes (LEDs) are widely used in solidstate lighting of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) due to their long lifetime, color tunability, high efficiency, environmental protection, energy saving nature, and durability. [1][2][3] As we all know, commercial WLEDs are implemented using blue InGaN chips combined with yellow YAG:Ce phosphors. [4][5][6][7][8] However, the lack of red regions in the spectrum results in a lower color rendering index (CRI, R a < 80) and higher color temperature (CCT > 4000 K).…”

“…White light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have been extensively applied in general lighting and special lighting [1][2][3][4][5], such as stadium [6], museum [7], and workplace lighting [8], thanks to their superior characteristics, including long life, compact size, vivid color, fast response, and environmental benefits [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. A white LED is mostly fabricated by covering a blue die with yellow phosphor; such a white LED is also called a phosphor-converted white LED (pcW-LED) [17].…”
