An observational study for knowing the compliance of patients scheduled for major abdominal and thoracic cancer surgeries in a single specialty center

Abstract: Background:Peri-operative incentive spirometry (IS) helps in improving pulmonary function, facilitates sputum clearance and prevents unwanted postoperative pulmonary complications after major abdominal and thoracic surgery. “…Benzer şekilde Özen ve Seviğ'in 36 koroner arter bypas greft cerrahisi geçiren hastalarda yürüttükleri araştırmada, taburculuk eğitimi programı uygulanmayan hastaların %79.2'sinin taburculuk sonrası dönemde spirometre kullanmada sorun yaşadıkları ve düzensiz kullandıkları, eğitim verilen gruptaki hastaların ise %87.5'inin spirometreyi düzenli olarak kullandığı bildirilmiştir. Bir diğer çalışma sonucunda ise abdominal cerrahi geçiren hastalara spirometre kullanımı konusunda bilgilendirmenin yapılmış olmasına rağmen hastaların %26'sının spirometre kullanımında hatalarının olduğu belirlenmiştir 37 .
