An Ontology Framework for Generating Requirements Specification

Abstract: Requirements engineering is the initial process of software development that critically determines the overall software process quality. However, this process is error-prone. This is generally related to the factors of communication, knowledge, and documentation. With the lack of business knowledge, it is complicated for (technical) engineers to define customer needs. Also, modeling and documenting requirements need much time and effort to ensure that the requirements are valid, and nothing is missed. The curr… Show more

“…Furthermore, Yanuarifiani et al (2020) present rule-based ontology in support of the requirements elicitation process while avoiding the possibility of missing or mismatching the requirements in preparing the requirements specification documents. Hallberg et al (2014) present system development ontology that discusses the fundamental definitions of general concepts, description concepts, realization concepts, and appearance concepts, also their dependencies and relationships in the systems development activities.…”

“…In an object-oriented approach, requirements engineers deliver a SRS, which is a document that serves as a guideline for the subsequent processes of software development [5]. Therefore, the SRS should have a set of quality attributes in order to maintain the quality of the end product.…”
