An open resource for nonhuman primate imaging

Abstract: Non-human primate neuroimaging is a rapidly growing area of research that promises to transform and scale translational and cross-species comparative neuroscience. Unfortunately, the technological and methodological advances of the past two decades have outpaced the accrual of data, which is particularly challenging given the relatively few centers that have the necessary facilities and capabilities. The PRIMate Data Exchange (PRIME-DE) addresses this challenge by aggregating independently acquired non-human p… Show more

“…Techniques such as diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) tractography and resting state functional MRI (fMRI) covariance allow mapping of the connectivity of an individual’s brain in minutes. Connectivity fingerprints can now be defined easily and related to a wide array of variables given the development of tools for fast data acquisition and advanced connectivity analyses 5 , 6 , 7 , and the wide availability of high-quality datasets from both healthy and clinical populations as well as different species 8 , 9 , 10 .…”

“…We made use of the MRI data from the recently formed NHP data sharing consortium -the non-human PRIMate Data-Exchange (PRIME-DE, http://fcon_1000.projects.nitrc.org/indi/indiPRIME.html (16)). Three cohorts of macaque monkeys have been included in the present study.…”

“…To accomplish our goals, we leveraged previously collected fMRI datasets made available through the PRIMatE Data Exchange (PRIME-DE) (16). Specifically, we used three independent data collections (Oxford [n=20; anesthetized fMRI]; UC-Davis [n=19; anesthetized fMRI]; Newcastle [n = 14; awake fMRI]).…”
