An optimal current control scheme in grid‐tied hybrid energy system with active power filter for harmonic mitigation

Abstract: Summary This paper presents hybrid photovoltaic (PV)‐wind‐battery energy storage network tied to three‐phase utility grid side inverter using fuzzy logic proportional integral derivative‐improved second‐order generalized integrator‐quadrature signal generator‐phase locked loop (FLPID‐ISOGI‐PLL) for power quality enhancement at the consumer side terminals. An advanced ISOGI‐PLL control strategy is implemented to separate the fundamental constituent of each phase load current without sensing other phase currents… Show more

“…The current harmonics are directly related to the modulation scheme used for the switching action. 84 Some recent studies show that the THD is also related to the power level of PV systems. An excellent experimental analysis on the power quality issues of the PV systems is performed in Ref., 85 where the authors have focused on the unity power factor and the reactive power support modes.…”

“…For example, during a sag-event, the grid side impedance, voltage harmonics, and frequency may deviate from their nominal value. 84 An adaptive controller should be able to accommodate the significant grid parameter variations without degrading its performance. However, the digital implementation of the adaptive controller poses many challenges.…”

“…These types of control schemes have been introduced to increase the system behavior during dynamic conditions and also utilized to improve the power quality, grid synchronization, fundamental component extraction, dc-off set elimination, and low computation burden. Least mean square (LMS), 18 normalized LMS (NLMS), 19 least mean fourth (LMF), 20 echo state network [ESN], 21 second-order (SO) generalized integrator (GI), 22 dual SOGI (DSOGI), 23 improved SOGI (ISOGI), 24 multiple SOGI (MSOGI), 25 multilayer fifth order GI (MFOGI), 26 reduced order GI (ROGI), 27 and modified ROGI (MROGI). 28 The notch filter-based recently developed control schemes have been reported in the literature, which are an adaptive notch filter (ANF) 29 and an amplitude adaptive notch filter (AANF).…”
