An Optimal Method for Extracting the Center of Light Stripes

Abstract: A method for extracting the center of the light stripe to effectively reduce the environmental noise is proposed in this paper. The block matching algorithm is adapted to use the global information in the structured light image to group image blocks with similar light stripe structures. The center coordinates of the light stripe in each group of image blocks are extracted by the gray gravity method, and its average value is used as the final center of light stripes in the similar image block, which reduces the… Show more

“…Pan calculated the center using the block-matching algorithm and grayscale center of gravity method in the image block. 16 Shi et al studied the energy distribution characteristics of all types of line-structured lights, and obtained a weighted gray value method to extract the centers; 17 however, the universality of this method was unsatisfactory.…”

“…employed the Sobel operator to calculate the normal field of the light stripe, and subsequently, the sub-pixel center in the normal direction was calculated using the grayscale center of gravity method; 15 however, the method cannot produce accurate results when the curvature is small. Pan calculated the center using the block-matching algorithm and grayscale center of gravity method in the image block 16 . Shi et al.…”
