An optimal slicing strategy for SDN based smart home network

Abstract: Software Defined Network (SDN) has long been a research focus since born from the lab of Stanford University. Researches on traditional home networks are faced with a series of challenges due to the ever more complicated user demands. The application of SDN to the home network is an effective approach in coping with it. Now the research on the SDN based home network is in its preliminary stage. Therefore, for better user experience, it is essential to effectively manage and utilize the resources of the home ne… Show more

“…In the literature, few works proposed a slicing of the home network. How to choose the most efficient strategy of slicing is still a challenge . Yiakoumis et al proposed a slicing of the home network by multiple service and application providers with different purposes (improve and configure Wi‐Fi, provide a good QoS for streaming services, improve energy load management and meter reading, etc).…”

“…How to choose the most efficient strategy of slicing is still a challenge. 17 Yiakoumis et al 39 proposed a slicing of the home network by multiple service and application providers with different purposes (improve and configure Wi-Fi, provide a good QoS for streaming services, improve energy load management and meter reading, etc). According to this work, many slices could be defined for the home area network, ie, network management, smart grid, video streaming, guest Wi-Fi, etc (see Figure 4).…”
