Abstract:This paper addresses optimal control problems governed by semilinear parabolic partial differential equations, subject to control constraints and state constraints of integral type. Since such problems may not have classical solutions, a relaxed optimal control problem is considered. The relaxed control problem is discretized by using a finite element method and the behavior in the limit of discrete optimality, admissibility and extremality properties is studied. A conditional descent method with penalties app… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
