“…The use of combustion inhibitors in practice reveals a system of peculiar phenomena never suspected, namely: disappearance of inhibition, or acceleration of combustion under the action of the inhibitors introduced (Cullis et 01., 1963;Morrison and Scheller, 1972;Nettleton and Stirling, 1974;Lovachev et 01., 1977); diffusive combustion of inhibitors (Creitz, 1961); flame propagation over inhibitor/air mixtures in large-scale experiments (Lovachev, 1976); and inefficiency of inhibitors for deep-seated fires (Fielding et 01., 1975;Ford, 1975). There are probably many similar phenomena not yet observed, and consequently not included into the Fire Science Dictionary (Kuvshinoff, 1977).…”
