An Overview of Molten Polymer Drawing Instabilities
Jean-Francois Agassant,
Yves Demay
Abstract:Drawing instabilities and rupture are a serious limitation in polymer fibre and film processing. Onset of these defects depends on the processing conditions, on heat transfer, and on the rheology of the polymer even if some may be encountered for Newtonian fluids. The main part of this paper is devoted to the different forms of the draw resonance instability encountered in fibre spinning, cast-film and film blowing. The time dependent equations are presented for the simplified situation of constant width cast-… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
