Many students face challenges in the thesis preparation process, including time constraints, lack of integration with industry requirements, and lack of understanding of research methodology. This research aims to formulate another form of student thesis project with equal reasoning and difficulty level that can be measured and converted as a thesis. Apart from that, it also improves the quality and relevance of undergraduate thesis projects in Information Technology. The research method used is a descriptive approach, involving surveys and interviews. Research participants include Information Technology undergraduate students, supervisors, industry practitioners, and advisory boards. Data collection instruments include a structural questionnaire and interview guide designed to explore experiences, perceptions, and suggestions regarding changes in the preparation of the thesis project. The proposed solution involves implementing effective time management, closer integration with industry challenges through partnerships with companies, increased understanding of research methodologies, and adaptation of curricula to reflect dynamic changes in the Information Technology industry. It is hoped that the results of this research can provide concrete guidance for improving thesis projects and creating graduates who are better prepared and relevant to industry needs. Through this approach, it is hoped that this research can contribute to improving the academic process in producing higher quality and relevant thesis projects in the context of information technology.

Introduction: Acquisition of clinical reasoning skills is essential in nursing for patient safety. Lack of clinical reasoning skills in nursing can impose harmful consequences on the patient. However, teaching and learning clinical reasoning skills is not easy due to its complexity. Without a model, clinical reasoning is taught intuitively. Therefore, this study aimed at investigating how undergraduate nursing students acquire clinical reasoning skills, towards development of a middle-range theory. Methods: This study employed Grounded theory of systematic design underpinned by a social constructivism paradigm. The participants were undergraduate nursing students and nurse educators. Purposive sampling was used to sample the participants. Data were collected in six months using numerous methods of interviews, observations, and document review Twelve individual in-depth interviews and six focus group discussions were conducted. Data collection and initial data analysis occurred concurrently using a coding process, with comparative analysis. Results: The study revealed that undergraduate nursing students acquired clinical reasoning skills through automation while utilizing the nursing process. Through the themes, a new theory called ‘a middle-range theory for the acquisition of clinical reasoning skills’, was generated in this current study. The associated concepts were environmental setting, type of curriculum, anchors and expected outcomes which included individual and health care system indicators. Conclusion: Teaching undergraduate nursing students how to reason clinically will develop nurses who can adjust and solve problems in changing patient’s situations. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that nursing students be equipped with adequate clinical reasoning skills before they graduate. Therefore, implementing the new model called ‘a middle range theory for the acquisition of clinical reasoning skills’ could foster the development of clinical reasoning skills from the start of the nursing training program.

Nursing education prepares students for both academia and practice; however, the contribution of writing a bachelor's thesis in learning nursing is overlooked. The aim of the present study was to explore the role of a bachelor thesis as a learning tool in nursing. A total of 15 nursing students were individually interviewed using semi-structured questions. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis, and the activity theoretical concept of a tool was subsequently applied. The results were reported in accordance with COREQ for qualitative research. The findings identified writing a bachelor's thesis as a ‘ Personal tool’ and a ‘ Systemic tool for learning nursing’. The personal tool was related to ‘ Preparation for patient encounters in working life’ and ‘ Discovering bodily mechanisms of disease or health’. The systemic tool was related to ‘ Enabling to impact on the organization of work and stakeholders’ and ‘ Facilitating knowledge of the links between patient groups and common diseases’. The study discusses and concludes that a bachelor's thesis represents both a personal and a systemic tool that embodies nursing knowledge, preparing students for their future work as registered nurses. An implication for contemporary nursing is that a bachelor's thesis may serve as a boundary-crossing tool that transcends the school, workplace, and even society.
