An Unusual Alkylation with Trifluoroiodomethane Providing a Difluoroiodomethyl Group.-Formation of the pentamethylcyclopentadienyl anion by BuLi-lithiation of (I) followed by addition of trifluoroiodomethane and subsequently N-phenylmaleimide results in formation of the cycloadduct (IV) of (I) and the unexpected product from difluorocarbene insertion to (I).No products containing the desired trifluoromethyl group are obtained. - (LETOURNEAU, J.
