An updated angiosperm classification

Abstract: DAHLGREN, C, 1989. An updated angiosperm classification. A new two‐dimensional diagram, reflecting the system of classification of the angiosperms, is presented. It combines the dicotyledon diagram in G. Dahlgren (1989) and an adapted monocotyledon diagram after that in Dahlgren (1985) in a single diagram. An updated monocotyledon taxonomy is presented and the classification is appended.

“…The circumscription of Sapindaceae has been debated ever since. Takhtajan (1987), Cronquist (1988) and Dahlgren (1989) maintained Aceraceae and Hippocastanaceae separate from Sapindaceae, whereas broader concepts of the family have been adopted by several workers (e.g., Umadevi and Daniel, 1991;Judd et al, 1994;Gadek et al, 1996;Savolainen et al, 2000;Thorne, 2000Thorne, , 2007APGII, 2003).…”

“…For many genera, several species and cultivars were observed; for brevity, where senescence symptoms were identical, only one representative is included in Table 1. The classification system of Dahlgren et al (1985) and Dahlgren (1989) is followed. The term.…”
