An Updated ERP Systems Annotated Bibliography: 2001-2005

Abstract: The goal of this study is to provide an updated annotated bibliography of ERP publications published in the main IS conferences and journals during the period 2001-2005, categorizing them through an ERP lifecycle based framework that is structured in phases. The first version of this bibliography was published in 2001 (Esteves and Pastor, 2001c). However, so far, we have extended the bibliography with a significant number of new publications in all the categories used in this paper. We also reviewed the catego… Show more

“…Notes 1 Research provides ES life cycle models with various conceptualizations of phases and activities (e.g., Markus and Tanis, 2000;Verville and Halingten, 2003;Esteves and Bohorquez, 2007;Schneider and Sunyaev, 2015). We deliberately abstract from adopting a specific life cycle model in our theoretical preunderstanding.…”

“…Hence, it is important to focus on the dynamics of ES requirements beyond the implementation stage by analyzing how different contextual factors and experiences with the ES intertwine and shape the evolution requirements (Jarke et al, 2011). Although previous research acknowledges the volatility and evolution of requirements over time (Markus and Tanis, 2000), the evolution of requirements throughout the ES life cycle scarcely represents the unit of analysis (Esteves and Bohorquez, 2007;Eden et al, 2014). Particularly, research provides little explanation of the mechanisms that shape the requirements evolution process beyond implementation of the ES (Pollock and Williams, 2007).…”

“…There is much published research discussing ERP projects, but ERP in use has been under‐researched as most published research tends to focus on issues of implementation (e.g. Holland & Light, ; Esteves & Bohorquez, ). The works of Wagner & Newell (), Robey & Boudreau () and Ignatiadis & Nandhakumar () are exceptions.…”

“…Much of the academic research on ES has sought to understand problems with the acquisition, adoption, implementation and use of these systems (Esteves & Pastor, ; Esteves & Bohorquez, ). This body of work tends to emphasize the way in which ES model complex business processes of organizations, and as such describe them as process and data‐centric systems (Cardoso et al ., ).…”
