An X-band HEMT microwave oscillator stabilized with a superconducting resonator

Abstract: A parallel feedback oscillator using a transmission-type high-temperature superconducting (HTS) resonator is designed and implemented in hybrid technology. A Tl 2 Ba 2 CaCu 2 O 8 (Tl-2212) microstrip resonator on an LaAlO 3 substrate is integrated with a two-stage PHEMT amplifier. The oscillator is tested at 12.3 GHz and demonstrates phase noise of −98 dBc Hz −1 at 100 kHz offset from the carrier and a stability of 0.16 ppm K −1 at 77 K.
