Abstract:CPH32 required significantly fewer sutures for bleeding control along the stapler line after circular mucosectomy. However, operation time, rate of postoperative complications and patient satisfaction were similar in both groups.
“…The value of using a ‘high volume stapler’ (CPH34 HV ® ; Frankenman International Ltd, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong) to decrease the prolapse recurrence rate was suggested in a prospective series of 430 patients with Stage III and IV haemorrhoids of whom only 1.8% developed recurrent prolapse , although it is important to bear in mind that this study was uncontrolled and industry driven. In contrast another study using the same stapler CPH34 HV for Stage III haemorrhoids failed to demonstrate any change in the volume of mucosa resected compared with the PPH device .…”
The study failed to demonstrate any significant difference in the long-term recurrence rate of Stage III haemorrhoids using EEA or PPH. Nevertheless, use of the larger volume EEA provides better symptom resolution compared with PPH.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
