Introduction: Among the methods of measurement of the biomechanical risk factors available in the literature, the observational methods have greater applicability in occupational practice. Objective: To identify observational methods used in Brazilian workers to identify and to evaluate their translation/cross-cultural adaptation procedures and measuring property tests. Methods: Three search strategies were used in MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, LILACS and SCIELO. After a review of titles and abstracts, potential articles were read in full for inclusion and subsequent extraction of data related to translation, cross-cultural adaptation and measurement properties of the observational methods. Results: 5349 potential studies were found and 29 were eligible for inclusion. The methods used in Brazilian workers were: AET, NIOSH, OCRA, OWAS, QEC, RARME, REBA and RULA. All procedures regarding the translation and cross-cultural adaptation were positive for the QEC and REBA. The translation, synthesis of the translations and review committee procedures were doubtful for the OCRA method. The QEC measuring properties showed negative reliability, doubtful internal consistency, and positive agreement and construct validity. The REBA showed negative reliability and agreement. The RARME presented positive reliability and negative construct validity.

The aim of this study was to perform a comparative analysis of the methods of ergonomics assessment RULA, REBA, OWAS and TOR-TOM, which the intent is to highlight similarities and differences in their use, during tillage operation with farm machinery. The study was conducted through an exploratory research in Boa Vista do Incra, RS, in August 2017, during soil preparation operation, with a tractor-subsoiler set. The operation was filmed over a period of 10 hours. After that, it was selected one hour of video, which was assumed to be representative, the video was analyzed by the methods RULA, REBA, OWAS and TOR-TOM through the software Ergolândia 5.0 and TOR-TOM, with the aid of information on noise, temperature and strength. For the comparative analyses, it was analyzed the ease of application, the importance of posture and complementary variables, and the scope of activity and postural factors. The OWAS method showed highlight in the ease of application, while the REBA and RULA methods stood out for the importance of the postural variables. For the importance of the complementary variables, RULA, followed by REBA, are worth mentioning as the most suitable. Similar results were obtained for the scope of posture factors, especially for these two methods. Regarding the scope of activity factors, the TOR-TOM obtained the most satisfactory results. Thus, the comparative analysis has highlighted the RULA method as the most suitable for postural analysis in agricultural machinery, besides the REBA method, for presenting very similar situations, contemplating full body analysis.

Introduction: nurses and licensed practical nurses are among the most affected by postural deviations and their drawbacks, in the world. One of the ways to mitigate these ills is physical exercise, and it can be done at work environment, however, not as a form of workout gymnastics. Objective: To verify the effects of a muscle stretching exercise program (MSE) on posture and flexibility of nurses. Methods: Controlled clinical experiment with 28 nurses, aged 18-60 years, divided into experimental group (n=15) and control group (n=13). Anthropometric measures, flexibility and body posture of the trunk were performed. The intervention was of 08 weeks of MSE; each session lasted 40 min. The exercises had four sets of 30s of tension for 30s of the interval. An independent t-test compared the characteristics of the samples. The chi-square test treated the results regarding body posture, and the level of significance was p ≤ 0.05. Results: MSE promoted positive and chronic positive changes in the Experimental Group with attenuation of the concavities of the vertebral column in the cervical and thoracic regions. In the alignment of the cervical region and the curvature of the lumbar region, the effects were observed after the eight weeks of training, including sharp reduction of gibbosity in the scapula region after the exercise session. Conclusion: MSE promoted acute and chronic positive changes in body posture and flexibility in nurses.
