Análisis de las continuidades del sistema de refuerzo con ángulos y soleras de acero en el sistema de piso con el método de elementos finitos

Abstract

In the present research work, a study is made of the systems used in Mexico City to repair concrete columns with steel jacket when they have been damaged by earthquakes or to increase their resistance if this becomes necessary. In the areas of the columns coincide between consecutive floors, the system used is similar: steel angles along the edges of the column and transverse slabs attached to the angles. However, to give continuity to the steel jacket through the floor systems, various systems are used whose behavior is not known in detail. After identifying the different systems used in professional practice, a prototype structure was discovered with the Construction Regulations for the Federal District 2004 (RCDF-2004) and its Complementary Technical Standards 2004 (NTC-2004), in such a way that its seismic resistance was insufficient when reviewed with the strictest requirements of the Construction Regulations for Mexico City 2017 (RCCDMX-2017) and its Complementary Technical Standards 2017 (NTC-2017). Several alternative cladding systems for their columns were designed to increase their resistance to that required by NTC-2017 and the efforts in the cladding systems were analyzed with the finite element program ABAQUS/CAE in order to ascertain the behavior of each case With the cladding it is possible to significantly increase the resistance of the structural elements and in the same way it laterally stiffens the structural system. It was shown that by drilling into the slab and going through the angles, the resistant capacity of the specimen is reduced, while when plates are used without damaging the slab, a greater resistance is achieved.
