“…In short, it can be concluded that Latin terms can cause the students learning difficulties. According to the research finding who conducted by Alawiyah et al (2016) [16] states thet the types of learning difficulties experienced who face by students in understanding the material of invertebrates at class X MAN 2 Pontianak are difficulties in understanding the scientific names until more than half of respondent or 59.74%, difficulties in understanding concepts faced by almost half of respondent or 40.15%, and difficulties in understanding the term faced by 26.66% respondents. In line with this statement, the research finding who conducted by Rusgiarti in Nurbaiti (2017) [15] also emphasized that the low ability to remember and to memorize the scientific names and Latin terms is one of the characteristics of student learning difficulties in Biology subjects.…”

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan antara hasil kemampuan kognitif dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran think pair share dan model pembelajaran the power of two pada pembelajaran biologi di MAN Maguwoharjo Depok Sleman. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen. Populasi yang digunakan adalah kelas XI IPA 1 dan XI IPA 2 yang terdiri dari 36 peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan pretest dan posttest, dengan instrumen soal pilihan ganda. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan SPSS dengan menggunakan uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil pembelajaran biologi pada materi sistem reproduksi dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran think pair share dan the power of two. Hal tersebut dapat dibuktikan dengan hasil analisis uji t yang memiliki nilai sig (0,001) < α 0,05. Berdasarkan nilai rata-rata dari gain score hasil pembelajaran menggunakan model the power of two lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan think pair share. Model pembelajaran the power of two memiliki rata-rata gain score sebesar 6,47 sedangkan think pair share memiliki rata-rata 4,47. Dari hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa hasil pembelajaran the power of two memiliki nilai yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan hasil kognitif think pair share.

This study aims to determine how the students' difficulties in solving the test questions with indicators of the logical-mathematical thinking ability in one of the geometry materials, especially cubes. This study was conducted according to the facts in 9th-grade of SMP Negeri (State Junior High School)in one of the schools in Karawang Regency. This study used descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data were collected by an essay test consisting of 4 questions, and interviews. The subjects of the study were 28 9th-grade students of SMPN 1 Cikampek Karawang Regency. The instrument of the study used the essay test with indicators of logical-mathematical thinking ability according to (Andini, 2017): (1) The ability to conclude based on the appropriate portion; (2) The ability to conclude based on the examples; 3) The ability to conclude based on the existing data; (4) The ability to conclude based on the relationship between two variables. The data analysis techniques used were data collection, data reduction, data presenting, and concluding. The results of the study in the geometry materials show that all indicators of logical-mathematical thinking ability have not been achieved maximally. Only students with high category who meet the indicator, while the students who have moderate and low categories cannot meet the indicators. Out of 28 students, 3 students are in the high category with a percentage of 10.71%, 75% of students are in the moderate category, and 4 students are in the low category with a percentage of 14.29%. These results of the study show that students still have difficulty understanding and mastering the concepts to solve the test questions with the indicators of logical-mathematical thinking ability.
