Analisis Kompetensi Respon Bencana Pada Perawat Di Puskesmas Kabupaten Bireuen, Aceh

Abstract

Indonesia, geologically has vulnerable and high risk for earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and landslides. This condition requires effective disaster response capabilities from health service providers including nurses. Puskesmas as a community primary health center must be able to provide emergency services during a disaster. Nurses as front-liners care providers must have adequate competencies in responding to disasters, including services for the community, individuals and families, psychological disorders, and for vulnerable groups. The aims of study to assess the nurses' competencies of disaster response at the health center. The study was a descriptive exploratory with a cross sectional design. The population of the study were all nurses at two health centers in Bireuen District, Aceh. The total sampling method was carried out on 42 respondents. The data collection used a questionnaire in dichotomous scale consisting of 43 items, and passed the validity and reliability testing. The results of the study generally showed that the nurses' competencies of disaster response at the two health centers is good level (92.86%), consisting of the community services in the moderate level (42.86), individuals and families services in the good level (80.95%), psychological problems services in good level (97.62%), and vulnerable groups services in good level (61.90%). It is recommended to policy makers at the Puskesmas to improve disaster response competencies for nurses, especially services for vulnerable groups such as physical and mental disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women, and children, through planning and preparing disaster training programs for handling specific problems in these groups.
