Teachers have an important role in the learning process. Teachers have several roles that must be carried out to create effective learning, however during initial observations there were 2 indicators, namely the role of facilitator and evaluator, of the 7 indicators of the teacher's role which were thought to have not been implemented, so an in-depth study of the teacher's role was needed. The aim of this research is to describe the role of the teacher and the factors that influence the teacher's role in the new normal era mathematics learning process in class X IPS at SMAN 2 Mandau. This quantitative research method used as subjects 3 class X IPS mathematics teachers and 6 class X IPS students and used data collection techniques by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. From the research conducted, it was found that the factors that influence teachers in carrying out their role in the mathematics learning process are the short period of work in teaching and the teacher's physical condition. The student factor is caused by students' low interest in learning mathematics, students' lack of literacy and basic mathematical concepts, the condition of students who are not ready to learn, and the physical condition of students. Meanwhile, facilities and infrastructure and environmental factors do not influence the role of teachers because the learning system in the new normal era has changed so it does not really affect the role of teachers, it's just that time constraints in learning due to Covid-19 affect teachers in teaching.
