“…Thanks to the community-based actions of the mobile unit of the CBO Afrique Avenir, the recruitment strategy implemented by the project Makasi can bridge a missing link in the prevention chain among sub-Saharan African migrants: not only newly arrived migrants who live in precarious situations but also those who have been in France for several years but are still affected by different kinds of social hardships. 20 Comparing the population reached by this mobile unit with other healthcare providers highlights the fact that although low-threshold, specifically designed precarious situation care facilities play a major role in providing healthcare for the most excluded migrant populations living in social hardship, 21 other interventions and outreach strategies are needed to reach the migrants who live in social situations that may be less harsh but are harmful to the migrants’ health nonetheless.…”
