Analyses of the Imbalance of Urban Taxis’ High-Quality Customers Based on Didi Trajectory Data

Abstract: The distribution of high-quality customers (hereafter HQC) for taxis (including ride-hailing cars) has a significant impact on drivers’ revenue and taxis’ operation efficiency. Based on the taxi global positioning system data, we construct an evaluation model of passengers to discuss the imbalance of consumption in taxi market. The profit margin for each taxi order is calculated, and then a grid-based method is used to distinguish the HQC and the regions with potential higher benefits. We analyze the HQC’s dis… Show more

“…Data used in this research are Chengdu ride-hailing GPS data [24][25][26][27], which contain orders and vehicle trajectories for the entire month of November 2016. As shown Table 1, the GPS data include drivers' identity, orders' identity, time, and the vehicle location, with a sampling interval from two to four seconds.…”

“…In recent years, with the development of computer technology and the widespread application of mobile smart terminals, people have begun to pay attention to relevant research on the urban function mixing degree and urbanization development level. On the one hand, based on multi-source data such as mobile phone signaling [ 5 ], POI distribution, taxis’ GPS trajectories [ 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 ] and so on, scholars can study the urban function mixing degree, that is, the degree of perfection in the construction of urban multifunctional areas. This can provide theoretical support and a basis for quantitative analysis of the urban land utilization rate, better analysis of and solutions to urban complex problems, and the improvement of urban comprehensive capabilities.…”

“…On one hand, the GWR can overcome the shortcoming of spatial heterogeneity; on the other hand, it is a good way to interpret the potential influencing factors on travel demand. According to a case study of San Francisco [38], a GLM can better understand how the various factors affect the relationships in different areas using the outputs from the GWR.…”
