Analysis and co-simulation of permanent magnet sychronous motor with short-circuit fault by finite element method

Abstract: This paper attempts to present a finite element analysis (FEA) and equivalent circuit simulation for PWM inverter fed permanent synchronous motor (PMSM). Here, the simulation is made using both the Ansys Maxwell and Simplorer. The finite element of the PMSM model is calculated and then its performance is optimized. This model is created in Maxwell two-Dimensional (2D). Moreover, the power inverter and control circuit are established based on the Ansys-Simplorer. The global dynamic model of the PMSM is obtained… Show more

“…FEM has been commonly used for almost all PMSM faults [43][44][45], including the inter-turn short circuit, eccentricity and demagnetization. This is because by finite element field calculation, both physical and geometric details can be taken into account and various types of mechanical failure can be modeled [46].…”

“…It obtains precise results by dividing a large electromagnetic device into smaller elements and using complex mathematical equations, and it has been used for detecting PMSM faults, especially eccentricity, demagnetization and ITSF [77,78]. Figures 2 and 3 in [79] show the finite element model of the PMSM.…”

“…Finite Element Method (FEM) is a fairly mature method for solving engineering designs, which can speed up product design and iterative optimization, and many researchers and scholars use FEM to study the structural properties of materials [15]- [16], temperature analysis of equipment [17], optimization of the electric field distribution structure of EBCOMS to improve the charge collection efficiency [18], prediction of mechanical and structural performance in special environments [19]- [21], failure analysis of equipment [22]. In this paper, finite element analysis will be used to solve and analyze the structural factors affecting the temperature uniformity of flat plate dPCR thermal conductive plates.…”
