Analysis and development of an automatic eCall for motorcycles: a one-class cepstrum approach

Abstract: The automatic dial of an emergency call -eCall -in response to a road accident is a feature that is gaining interest in the intelligent vehicle community. It indirectly increases the driving safety of road vehicles, but presents the technical challenge of developing an algorithm which triggers the emergency call only when needed, a non-trivial task for two-wheeled vehicles due to their complex dynamics. In the present work, we propose an eCall algorithm that detects these anomalies in the data time series, tha… Show more

“…Third, there is information to be created, which cannot be created in advance [23], as it encompasses analyses performed by professionals and suffers changes during the rescue operation [24]. In this category, the information already provided by the eCall system facilitates access to information to be created by providing access to quickly calculating accessibility, traffic control, the cause of the accident, vehicle extrication necessities, and other required emergency services [25] (p. 286).…”

“…For this reason, in the experimental campaign we equipped all tested vehicles with the same external device, which was a modern, cost-effective, and easy to install telematic e-Box [17]. This apparatus was already employed in different applications [18], [19], [20], proving to be a flexible and reliable device for similar applications. E-Boxes are equipped with an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and a GPS/GNSS receiver.…”
