Analysis and Optimization of the Performances of the Centrifugal Compressor Using the CFD

Abstract: Centrifugal compressors have been used in many areas of the machinery. The centrifugal compressor design is very complex, and a unique design system needs to be developed. A centrifugal compressor design system should be easy to use in interface and also flexible for inputs and outputs. The design tool also needs to be able to predicate the compressor performance in a fairly accurate level. In this study, we have developed a general analyses and optimization approach in the design and performance analysis of c… Show more

“…The impeller is subjected to both structural and thermal loads. Structurally, an angular velocity of 50,000 rpm is applied along the global z-axis [13]. Thermal loads involve metal temperatures at different heights along the blade, acknowledging the temperature gradient from the root's minimum to the highest at the hub's cessation.…”

“…Radial compressors increase the kinetic energy of the fluid with the help of a rotating impeller [3]. Many design optimizations and numerical analyses have been used to improve compressor aerodynamic designs and increase their performance [4][5][6][7][8][9][10]. Hadavandi et al aimed to improve compressor CFD by providing a complete set of input data for numerical simulations [11].…”

“…Axial airflow enters the compressor, which directs the airflow using stationary vanes and moving blades on the discs [1]. Both the centrifugal force produced by the spinning of the rotor assembly and the pressure forces brought on by the three-dimensional viscous fluid flow inside the blade channels must be accommodated in the design of the impellers [2][3][4]. Many Papers analyzed the performance of axial compressors numerically and experimentally [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12].…”
