Analysis of an Internal Combustion Engine Using Porous Foams for Thermal Energy Recovery

Abstract: Homogeneous and complete combustion in internal combustion engines is advantageous. The use of a porous foam in the exhaust gas in an engine cylinder for heat recovery is examined here with the aim of reducing engine emissions. The internal combustion engine with a porous core regenerator is modeled using SOPHT software, which solved the differential equations for the thermal circuit in the engine. The engine thermal efficiency is observed to increase from 43% to 53% when the porous core regenerator is applied… Show more

Advantages of internal combustion engines are treated in Mehdiet et al 70) , when optimally configurated with aim to cut down on emissions and enhance power output. According to Felix et al 46) , the advantages of ICEs is seen through, presently 99.8% of global transportation sector rely on ICES power supply, 95% of its power are directly from liquid fuels like petroleum products.…”

“…16,17 Among them, compared with the other two internal combustion engines, differential internal combustion engines are the most widely studied. 18,19 Constant speed engines mainly have problems such as cooling, wear and so on. 20,21 Triangle rotor internal combustion engine due to the special structure form is difficult to achieve a good sealing effect, the current triangle rotor internal combustion engine combustion chamber adopts linear sealing structure, but there are still internal combustion engine burning oil, poor air tightness and other defects, based on the current problems of the triangle rotor internal combustion engine, it is difficult to solve it well by scientific means.…”
