Analysis of Conjugate Heat Transfer for a Combined Turbulent Wall Jet and Offset Jet

Abstract: This paper presents a study of the conjugate heat transfer, involving conduction through a solid slab and turbulent convection in fluid, for a combined turbulent wall jet and offset jet flow using unsteady Reynolds averaged Navier–Stokes (URANS) equations. The conduction equation for the solid slab and convection equation for the fluid region are solved simultaneously satisfying the equality of temperature and heat flux at the solid–fluid interface. The fluid flow is complex because of the existence of periodi… Show more

“…The isothermal temperature maintained at the bottom of the solid slab is higher than the offset jet inlet temperature. The conjugate heat transfer study from combined wall jet and offset jet flow is computationally investigated by Mondal et al (2016) using standard k −ε model in conjunction with wall functions. The ratio of distance between the two jets to the jet width is taken as one and the bottom wall of the solid slab is maintained at a constant temperature.…”

“…They investigated the effect of R e , P r , S h (slab thickness), and k (conductivity ratio) on heat transfer characteristics. Mondal et al 25 numerically investigated the CHT phenomena due to the combination of turbulent wall jet and offset jet flow using 2D URANS equations. Paulraj et al 26 presented a numerical investigation of CHT of wall jet flow (laminar) over a shallow cavity, which was heated from the bottom of the solid wall.…”
