Analysis of Deformation and Damage Evolution in Hot Elongation Forging

Abstract: The paper describes the analysis of the three-dimensional stress and strain state for the process of elongation forging of the X37CrMoV51 die steel using the finite element method. The results of simulation studies of the metal flow pattern and thermal phenomena in the hot forging process carried out in three different forging tools are reported. The results of the studies have been complemented with the prediction of the occurrence of ductile fractures during forging. The numerical analysis was performed usin… Show more

“…The following constant parameters were introduced to the dynamic simulation of the hydraulic forging press: m = 90,000 kg, b = 25,000 Nsm -1 , Ft = 200,000 N, pSmax = 32 MPaD1 = 0.6 m, D2 = 0.5 m, Avimax = 0,01 m 2 , K = 2,210 9 Pa, V10 = 0.3 m 3 , kw1 = 810 -13 m 3 s -1 Pa -1 , kw2 = 1410 -14 m 3 s -1 Pa -1 , V20 = 0.1 m 3 . Simulation tests were carried out for single-pass forging, during which the forging height is reduced by Δh = h0-h1 = 0.1 m. The characteristics of the degree of opening of the directional control valve are shown in Figure 8.…”
