Analysis of Digital Literacy Ability of Students of the KPI IAIN Pekalongan Department in Facing the COVID-19 Infodemic

Abstract

Covid 19 has become a global epidemic, including in Indonesia. The changing era, which is now wholly digitalized, makes it easier for humans to receive, access and disseminate information about the pandemic. The amount of data spread does not rule out the possibility of circulating news containing hoaxes, and it is even more dangerous if the report includes elements of provocation. Therefore, digital literacy skills are needed for the community, especially for students majoring in KPI IAIN Pekalongan. As KPI students, we must be wise in processing information. For this reason, the authors researched the digital literacy skills of students majoring in KPI IAIN Pekalongan regarding the COVID -19 infodemic with a qualitative method using phenomenological theory. After conducting observations and interviews, from the results of the author's analysis, it was stated that KPI IAIN Pekalongan students were familiar with digital literacy regarding news about Covid 19. However, some still wanted to share new news without the source's credibility. This is due to the lack of digital literacy, especially in disseminating information related to the issues of the Covid 19 pandemic.
