Analysis of dual role of nanographene on the microstructure‐properties correlation of TPU/NG nanocomposite

Abstract: Synthesis of nanographene (NG) and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)/NG nanocomposites by a facile and cost‐effective method was pursued in this work. For that purpose, NG was synthesized via a combination of microwave (MW) and shear mixing done by a simple kitchen blender. Next, TPU/NG nanocomposites were prepared by the kitchen blender in the solution state. Afterward, with variable amounts of the NG, TPU/NG nanocomposites were fabricated and their mechanical and rheological performances were comprehensively … Show more

“…Compared with pure TPU samples, G ' and G ' of TPU composites gradually increase with the increase of filler content. The sufficient time for TPU molecular chains to untangle in the low frequency region results in large relaxation, 45 thereby indicating that the material presents low values of G ' and G ". In addition, the slope of TPU composites gradually decreases with the increase of filler and is lower than that of pure TPU samples.…”

“…Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) has been widely applied in automotive, aerospace, wire and cable, and electronic-electrical equipment owning to its excellent elasticity, chemical resistance and corrosion resistance. [1][2][3] However, most of these applications require a high fire-resistant grade, obviously, flammable TPU essentially is not an ideal choice. 4 Flame retardants (FR) additives are generally adopted in TPU which are insensitive to elasticity and other mechanical performance.…”
