The importance of analyzing and predicting business efficiency, both overall and economic, is proving necessary, especially in the current global situation, when the world has been hit by a pandemic, causing economic slowdown, closures and, in some cases, fatalities and of course negative effects on the overall economy of countries and the world. In this paper, we focused on the analysis of indicators as predictors of business efficiency. We used a sample of 150,000 companies accounting in the double-entry bookkeeping system in Slovakia. Using data on enterprises, we calculated a number of financial indicators to which we added socio-demographic indicators and focused on the indicator of return on assets, in which we determined the strength of the region as a predictor of other indicators of corporate efficiency. As part of the analysis, we used Kruskal-Wallis statistical tests to determine differences and machine learning techniques such as the XGBoost Tree model and the CHAID algorithm to determine the significance of the predictor.

The purpose of the publication is to determine the influence of meteorological factors on the yield of grain crops in different regions of Ukraine, as well as to study the correlation dependence of grain yield on meteorological factors. The research methodology is represented by general scientific and special methods (use of satellite information, climate models, data from long-term agrotechnical experiments, and statistical information). Empirical-theoretical (heuristic analysis and generalization), system methods, modeling, and formalization methods should be distinguished among the methods; economic and mathematical methods and methods of statistical analysis. The results of the research can be used as a basis for the formation of new strategies for adaptation to climate change in the fields of agriculture, namely crop production. And also, to take into account changes in the planning of grain crops and the organization of the appropriate infrastructure for their cultivation, storage, and sale. This research indicates noticeable climate changes in different regions of Ukraine over the past 24 years in the direction of significant warming, which is accompanied by a decrease in precipitation. These changes directly affect changes in grain crop yields. Originality / scientific novelty. The scientific novelty of this research is in linking meteorological factors, such as average monthly temperature and monthly precipitations with values of grain yield in the regions of Ukraine. Furthermore, this research studies the dependence of grain yields on meteorological factors. Practical value/implications. The results of the research can be used as a base for formulating new strategies regarding adaptation to climate change in the fields of agriculture, namely crop production. As well as for considering changes when planning grain crops and organizing appropriate infrastructure for their cultivation, storage, and sale.

The automotive industry is widely considered to be crucial for the economy, as it reflects economic development in general. Despite interest in financial performance, few studies have considered paying attention to the ownership structure among stockholders. Hence, the study aims to find out how the degree of ownership concentration, measured through the independence indicator of the Bureau van Dijk, is reflected in the financial management of companies in the automotive industry among selected European countries. The generalized method of moments (GMM) technique is widely used while investigating panel data with a short estimating period, i.e. nine years annually in this case. However, this study reveals that, without deploying techniques, subsequently introduced a modified version of GMM estimators with panel data by providing an implementation using Stata statistical software. Otherwise, these particular econometric tools to analyze a dynamic panel can often give false significant estimates. Overall, liquidity seems to be significant in the case of firms with less concentrated ownership, whereas companies with a major owner are affected more by selected macroeconomic variables.
