The purpose of the study is to evaluate the thermal performance of the gas turbine unit represented by (K3) under actual weather conditions by applying the first and second laws of thermodynamics, the design production of the unit (283.6 MW) at standard conditions (1 bar) and temperature (15) Celsius, which included the analysis of the unit energy and available energy. To find out the weaknesses and losses in the system using the ChemCad simulation for a whole year and knowing the effects of external factors for the performance of the turbine unit (ambient temperature, compression ratio and relative humidity). Overall results showed that the maximum exergy efficiency was obtained in November; it was about 37% when Ta was 19.39°C. The maximum efficiency obtained at Ta equal to 19.39°C, which was around 37.67%. Higher ambient temperature increases specific fuel consumption. The results show that the specific fuel consumption (SFC) for the practical and program calculations increases with the increase in the temperature of the external environment and reached the maximum rate in the practical calculations in September (0.224) at 33.27°C. Thus it economically affects the price of power production. Moreover, the results showed that the combustion chamber occupied the first place for the destruction of available energy, and the results of energy efficiency and available energy were (39.20%) and (30.83%), respectively.

A hydrocyclone is physical separation equipment employed in solid-liquid processing. An important parameter in hydrocyclone design is the so-called cut-size diameter (D50), which determines the minimum size of the separated solids when the equipment performs at 50% separation efficiency. This paper discusses the calculation of the cut-size diameter (D50) of a hydrocyclone operating in a salt purification pilot plant in Manyar, East Java, Indonesia. The cut-size D50 is calculated based on the residence time approach and compared with the collection efficiency from the mass balance. D50 was found to be 69.73 microns. Moreover, by using Zanker’s nomograph, it was found that at the solid separation efficiency of 80.48%, the minimum diameter of salt crystal (Dmin) is 85 microns. Because the D50 of HC-1 is smaller than Zanker’s design, it can be concluded that the hydrocyclone will work efficiently in separating the expected products. Wastewater treatment of machine-building enterprises contaminated with oils, petroleum products and mechanical impurities is an urgent task. A promising direction in the field of treatment of such wastewater is the use of pressure hydrocyclones and hydrocyclone installations. The article presents the results of research on the treatment of oil-containing wastewater of machine-building enterprises in pressure of hydrocyclones, conducted on an experimental hydrocyclone installation, which includes the pressure hydrocyclone under test, a sedative tank, and tanks for receiving water from the upper and lower drains of the hydrocyclone. The studies were carried out in two stages: the first stage was used to determine the diameter of the pressure of hydrocyclone suitable for the treatment of oily wastewater, and the second stage was used to study its geometric characteristics. At the first stage, seven modifications of pressure hydrocyclones with a diameter of 40 to 100 mm with different diameters of the upper and lower drain pipes were tested. A 75 mm diameter hydrocyclone is recommended for the treatment of oily wastewater. At the second stage, nine pressure hydrocyclones with a diameter of 75 mm with different diameters of the upper and lower drain pipes were tested. As a result of the experiments, the design parameters of the hydrocyclone that showed the best results were determined. The results of the research were used in the design of industrial hydrocyclone installations.
