Abstract:In this paper, two center-symmetric chiral honeycombs (CSCH-1 and CSCH-2) were designed through a center-symmetric approach. Corresponding samples were prepared using 3D printing technology, and in-plane impacts were carried out under quasi-static experiments with the conventional chiral honeycomb (CH). The experimental results show that CSCH-1 and CSCH-2 have better load-bearing capacity and energy-absorbing properties than CH.
