Analysis of Influence Settlement Density on the Fire Hazards Settlement at Cengkareng Subdistrict, West Jakarta

Abstract: This study aims to determine the influence of settlement density on the fire hazard in the dense settlement area. This study location is in Cengkareng Subdistrict, West Jakarta. The population in this study was all the settlements or settlement blocks in the Cengkareng Subdistrict. This research uses the descriptive quantitative method, while data is collected using the Arc GIS Online satellite image. Technological advances in remote sensing and GIS can be used to analyze fire hazard settlements based on the v… Show more

“…Data analysis and interpretation of Landsat 8 OLI imagery are performed using Geographic Information System (GIS) software because it can process and analyze data spatially [34]. The data processing process begins with cropping Landsat 8 satellite images from the years 2017, 2020, and 2022 to the administrative boundaries of Tangerang District.…”

“…Experts also discovered a correlation between home fire rates and population and building characteristics. [5] ther factors affecting fire insecurity include frequency of occurrence, land use, building characteristics (e.g., semipermanent structures made of wood, zinc, and asbestos), and infrastructure availability (e.g., number of hydrants and accessibility) [6]. Although the frequency of fires is not necessarily proportional to the density and characteristics of the building, physical arrangements associated with fire risk in buildings are crucial for reducing the likelihood of fires.…”

“…One of the issues in urban settings that are challenging to avoid is fire in structures. Poor urban fire fighting infrastructure and accessibility, the use of wood and charcoal for room heating, poverty, ignorance, and burning yard garbage are common causes of fires in urban areas [3]. Other common causes include flaws in disaster preventive programs.…”
