Objective: This study aims to map and analyze the key factors that contribute to the consolidation of airports as passenger hubs in Brazil and worldwide. Theoretical Framework: The research shows that strategic location and connectivity provide significant advantages for passenger movement between global destinations, while airport infrastructure, combined with operational capacity, drives economic development and growth potential of hubs. Method: The methodology involves a systematic literature review, adopting a quantitative and exploratory approach. The systematic review followed the PRISMA protocol through the steps of source identification, study selection, data extraction and synthesis, and quality assessment. Results and Discussion: The findings contribute to discussions on airport modernization and the improvement of air transport policies, with practical implications for the expansion and planning of hubs in Brazil and other countries. Research Implications: The theoretical implications of this research can help identify the fundamental elements for the efficiency and competitiveness of airport hubs, such as geographic location, infrastructure, service quality, and available technology. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by comparing different global hubs and identifying an airport model that integrates operations and commercial attractions, reflecting contemporary trends in the sector. The analysis shows that integrating operational and commercial functions increases airport revenues, reinforcing their role as experience centers, going beyond air transportation.
