Analysis of Land-Use Change in Shortandy District in Terms of Sustainable Development

Abstract: The suburban territories of large cities are transitional zones where intensive transformations in land use are constantly taking place. Therefore, the presented work is devoted to an integrated assessment of land use changes in the Shortandy district (Kazakhstan) based on an integrated study of the dynamics of land use and sustainable development indicators (SDIs). “…Land use changes characterized by spatial use complexity cause a decrease in the quality of the urban environment [70]. Furthermore, the effectiveness of land use management serves to stop (or, at least, slow down) the negative impacts of land use on natural resources [71]. In addition, an adverse process is often understood as the degradation of soil cover under the influence of various types of erosion [72].…”

“…Therefore, it needs to be controlled. In addition, land conversion also causes an imbalance in space and its use (Agus & Irawan, 2006;Alipbeki et al, 2020;Prayitno, Subagiyo, Dinanti, Rahmawati, & Auliah, 2021).…”

“…Using the techniques of economic and mathematical modeling based on systemic and integrated approaches would be advisable to assess the possibilities of territorial development (Alipbeki et al, 2020). The proposed method for determining the parameters of the mechanism for managing the potential of territorial formations provides for a description of the conceptual mechanism for the implementation of the system; principles of its construction; structural elements and functionality.…”
