Analysis of multiple soybean phytonutrients by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy

Abstract: Improvement of the nutritional quality of soybean is usually facilitated by a vast range of soybean germplasm with enough information about their multiple phytonutrients. In order to acquire this essential information from a huge number of soybean samples, a rapid analytic method is urgently required. Here, a nondestructive near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) method was developed for rapid and accurate measurement of 25 nutritional components in soybean simultaneously, including fatty acids palmitic … Show more

“…Total fatty acids were extracted three times and analyzed with GC using triheptadecanoylglycerol as an internal standard using a method described previously [44, 62]. Analyses were carried out on an Agilent Technologies (USA) 7890A Network gas chromatograph, equipped with a flame-ionization detector (FID) and a split/splitless injector.…”

“…In our work, we approach the system RIN into a Poisson or Shot noise component using a RIN standard expression for the frequency dependent calibration factor (κ). This includes all noise added by the receiver front end [50,51]. This method regulates the response of our RIN system to the input RIN of the laser under consideration.…”

“…The presence of beneficiary phytochemicals in straw, such as NDF, are important to stimulate rumen fermentation in ruminants. Therefore, an evaluation is required to understand straw sources and purposes [ 5 ]. Eastridge et al reported that feeding different forages (corn silage, alfalfa hay, wheat straw, and corn stover) can result in similar animal performance and ruminal fermentation with adequate formulations of dietary non-fiber carbohydrates and physically effective neutral detergent fiber for dairy cows [ 6 ].…”
