Analysis of Nonlinear Characteristics and the Factors Affecting the Operation of the Active Magnetic Bearings Rotor System Considering Alford Force

Abstract: Based on a test rig supported by active magnetic bearings (AMBs), this paper focuses on the study of the nonlinear dynamic characteristics and the factors affecting the operation of a rotor system under the coupling of magnetic bearing force and Alford force. In order to solve the nonlinear dynamic response of rotor system, a dynamic equation of the rotor which introduces Alford force and the electromagnetic force of the AMBs controlled by PID is established. By changing the control parameters (kPP and kDD), o… Show more

“…It can be clearly concluded that the growth of the inlet angle will result in an increase of the magnitude of response, and the opposite is also true. In light of the previous equation (21), this phenomenon is due to the fact that the aerodynamic force increases as the inlet angle grows.…”

“…Zhang et al [20] revealed the influence of the aerodynamic force on permanent magnet generator supported by active magnetic bearings. Later, in consideration of the aerodynamic force and magnetic bearing force, they analyzed the dynamic characteristics of the active magnetic bearingsrotor system under aerodynamic force as well [21]. Moreover, considering the air-induced force and the inter-shaft bearing contact force, Jin et al [22] developed the dual-rotor dynamic model, and revealed the effect of aerodynamic force on the vibration responses of the dual-rotor system.…”
