Analysis of Periodical Technical Inspection Systems in Automotive Transport. The Experiences of Poland and Russia

Abstract: The increasing number of road accidents nowadays seems to by a global problem. Apart from the obvious causes of accidents, such as violation of road traffic rules by drivers and pedestrians, the drunk driving, poor quality of road infrastructure, the technical faults of vehicles should also be take into account. Reasons of technical failures can be the failure of parts, components and assemblies caused by aging, poor quality or non-observance of technological norms when they are installed. It is possible to pr… Show more

“…technical inspection of vehicles on a compulsory basis, as well as fixation of any found defect before the vehicle is allowed to operate on public roads [14]. It is assumed that if periodic technical inspections reduce the number of technical defects in the vehicle fleet of a given state, then this will also result in a reduction in the accident rate caused by technical defects of the vehicles.…”

“…However, the use of turbocharging in vehicles leads to a significant increase in the operating temperature and loading modes [5,6,7]. This requires the use of more reliable operating materials and strict adherence to maintenance regulations, the violation of which significantly decreases engine durability [8,9].…”

“…The faults of motor vehicles are a constant feature of their use. This also translates into the number of road accidents worldwide, as indicated by the authors of the publications [1][2][3][4]. Apart from the obvious causes of accidents, such as violation of road traffic rules by drivers and pedestrians (excessive speed and overload, drunk driving) or poor quality of road infrastructure, the technical faults of vehicles should also be taken into account.…”
