Analysis of Phytoplankton Structure Community, Water Quality and Cultivation Performance in Litopenaeus vannamei Intensive Pond Located in Tembokrejo Village, Muncar, Banyuwangi

Abstract: Phytoplankton plays an important role in Litopenaeus vannamei cultivation. It plays a role as natural feed, water quality control, and indicator of shrimp cultivation success. The community structure of phytoplankton can be influenced by organic matter concentration in ponds. On the other hand, water quality and phytoplankton community structure also influence the productivity of shrimp cultivation. The research aimed to analyze the phytoplankton structure community, cultivation performance and the water quali… Show more

“…Daily growth yield (ADG) ranges from 0.10-0.41 grams (Figure 3), which is quite good for vaname shrimp cultivation. ADG values between 0.12-0.17 grams/day are still considered good for vaname shrimp cultivation, with an ideal value of 0.22 grams/day (Katmoko et al, 2021). The ADG value increased from week 8 to week 10 but decreased at week 11.…”

“…Light is used by phytoplankton in the photosynthesis process (Musa et al, 2023). Low brightness can also indicate that the particles and phytoplankton in the pond are too dense so water changes need to be carried out (Katmoko et al, 2021).…”

“…The low brightness value is presumably because of suspended particles in the waters, such as aquaculture organisms and organic materials (plankton, feed residues, and feces). Based on Katmoko et al (2021), pond brightness is affected by plankton (phytoplankton and zooplankton) and dissolved materials. The low brightness results in low dissolved oxygen levels.…”

“…Semi-intensive shrimp ponds with a high abundance of plankton at the time of fry stocking had a better survival rate (Katmoko et al 2021), which was 92.5% with a feed conversion value of 1.3. While the abundance of plankton is low, the survival rate is 40.13%, and feed conversion is 1.9 (Pratama et al 2017).…”
