Analysis of primary bleed and feed strategies for selected SBLOCA sequences in a German Konvoi PWR using ASTEC V2.0

Abstract: The severe accidents at Fukushima have shown that a further development of Severe Accident Management Guidelines (SAMGs) is necessary. Within this work, the severe accident code ASTEC V2.0 is used to assess the impact of selected SAM measures on the in-vessel progression of Small Break (SBLOCA) scenarios in a generic German Konvoi PWR. The progression of reference SBLOCA sequences with and without Station Blackout (SBO) is firstly analyzed. Calculations show that melting and vessel failure can be delayed if th… Show more

“…CESAR has been used extensively for numerous PWRs such as the French PWRs (Foucher et al, 2014), German KONVOI (Gómez-García-Toraño et al, 2017), and for validation of specific CESAR models (Gómez-García-Toraño et al, 2018;Gómez-García-Toraño and Laborde, 2019), but full ASTEC models of iPWRs are scarce. One such model had been validated based on the IRIS reactor (Di Giuli 2014;Di Giuli et al, 2015) but only the two-phase five-equation rather than sixequation model had been applied.…”
