Analysis of Properties of Chosen Acoustic Emission Descriptors Describing Acoustic Signals Measured by Means of Acoustic Emission Method within Oil Transformers

Abstract: Authors of the paper present investigation results concerning properties of ADP, ADC and ADNC descriptors which have been obtained during measurements made within three oil transformers and then tested also by other methods (electric and dissolved gas analysis ones). Methodology which makes easier an analysis and identification of acoustic emission signals generated by partial discharges is presented. Results obtained by acoustic emission method have been referred to results coming from other measuring methods. Show more

“…The bushing isolator (bushing) is a structural system allowing for carriage through walls, or partitions, or in distribution stations through tanks and through grounded transformer covers, capacitors, generators, shunt transformers or switches, of one or a few wires and for isolating them from this partition, wherein the mounting (a collar or a clamper) to the barrier is part of the bushing [5,[12][13][14][15][16][17].…”

“…Among other methods in the PD diagnosis the acoustic emission method, which is based on measurement and analysis of signals registered by use of acoustic emission (AE) sensors, is frequently applied [1,2]. Thus propagation phenomena of acoustic waves generated by PDs are currently widely studied [3][4][5].…”

“…A correct and systematic diagnosis of appliances of a strategic significance is one of the most important procedures leading to the lowering of failure indexes. Undoubtedly, power transformers belong to the group of such appliances and their shut down due to failure may cause a significant economic loss [5][6][7][8].…”
