Analysis of risk factors of interstitial lung disease and mortality rates in Chinese patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathy

Abstract: Aim To investigate the risk factors for interstitial lung disease (ILD) and prognosis in patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM). Methods A retrospective longitudinal study was performed in patients diagnosed with IIM between January 2012 and December 2018. Results The study cohort included 91 men and 195 women who were classified as having dermatomyositis (DM, n = 183), polymyositis (PM, n = 77), or clinical amyopathic DM (CADM, n = 26). ILD was identified in 46.5% (n = 133) of patients with IIM.… Show more

“…14 Previous studies showed that hypoalbuminemia may increase the risks of primary and secondary infections. 15,16 In our study, we found that blood glucose was a significant predictor of infection in patients with DBS surgery. Li et al showed that a high blood glucose level (p < 0.001) was a risk factor for surgical site infection.…”

“…There were significant differences in leukocyte levels between MI and non-MI groups. Increased NLR was reported to be an independent risk factor for RP-ILD of anti-MDA5 Ab+ DM/CADM patients and a poor prognostic factor for IIM patients ( 16 , 25 ). In our study, the deceased group had a significantly higher NLR, which is consistent with those reported.…”

“…Due to the small sample size of the deceased group, it is inappropriate to introduce all 16 variables into the multivariate analysis. Increased levels of LDH, ferritin, CRP, ESR, and NLR but decreased levels of ALB have been reported to be poor prognostic factors of PM/DM or PM/DMassociated ILD (16)(17)(18)(19). Especially, LDH and ferritin are established as serum biomarkers related to prognosis in anti-MDA5 Ab+ DM (20).…”

“…Finally, despite the heterogeneity of the study's design and differences in the follow up time makes data comparison of IIM survival based on gross domestic product challenging, it seems there are no major variations in the IIM survival rate between high (4-8) to upper middle (17,19) or lower income countries (20) over 1 and 5 years.…”
