Analysis of small holes manufacturing for optomechanical components

Abstract: Small holes can be manufactured by several ways. It is important to define in what dimensions the small holes vary. Anyway, drilling is one of the oldest technologies of holes manufacturing. In small dimensions we use the term microdrilling for description. Beside this conventional way of manufacture there are also unconventional methods. Microdrilling bits very often break before they are worn. Therefore, the tool life of these bits its quite unexpectable. It is due to relatively high load against the drill b… Show more

“…FIB-SEM is usually used for imaging of the structures of the different materials on a micrometer and nanometer scale for micro-, nanopreparation of the structures. [2,3,4,5,6,7,8] The content of the presented text is experimental verification of the possibility of using a focused ion beam for the preparation of surface structures analogous to natural patterns and the use of the two-step imprinting method to obtain replicas of the surface. Different polymeric materials (water-alcohol-soluble polymers, amorphous and crystallizing polymers) were used for the experiment to describe their ability to replicate the surface formed by FIB.…”

“…In recent years, the need to manufacture components of very small dimensions has resulted in remarkable growth in microtechnologies, i.e., technologies able to carry out the processing of particulars with dimensions ranging from hundredths to a few millimetres [3]. By controlling the process parameters, EDM may be also used to manufacture small-sized features (less than 1 mm) provided that the spark length is limited enough to achieve suitable process accuracy.…”
