Although there have been some studies on the success factors for IT software projects, there is still a lack of coherent research on the success factors for IT service projects. Therefore, this study aimed to identify and understand the factors and their relationships that contribute to the success of IT service projects. For this purpose, multivariate regressions and structural equation models (SEMs) were developed and analyzed. The regression models included six project management success criteria used as dependent variables (quality of the delivered product, scope realization and requirements, timeliness of delivery, delivery within budget, customer satisfaction, and provider satisfaction) and four independent variables (agile techniques and change management, organization and people, stakeholders and risk analysis, work environment), which had been identified through exploratory factor analysis. The results showed that not all success factors were relevant to all success criteria, and there were differences in their importance. An additional series of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses along with appropriate statistical measures were employed to evaluate the quality of these four factors. The SEM approach was based on five latent constructs with a total of twenty components. The study suggests that investing in improving people’s knowledge and skills, using agile methodologies, creating a supportive work environment, and involving stakeholders in regular risk analysis are important for project management success. The results also suggest that the success factors for IT service projects depend on both traditional and agile approaches. The study extensively compared its findings with similar research and discussed common issues and differences in both the model structures and methodologies applied. The investigation utilized mathematical methods and techniques that are not commonly applied in the field of project management success modeling. The comprehensive methodology that was applied may be helpful to other researchers who are interested in this topic.

Software industry has become as popular factor in the progress triumph of every country. Software project management techniques are significantly applicable in the development cycle of software projects. Despite that software projects face many tarnished reputations of poor performance in terms of schedule, budget, quality, and many other management and controlling correlated factors. Influencing factors which makes the software project successful are under the prominence of extensive research for more than the 40 years. Still, most of the relevant research in this territory has focused on developing countries with little consideration of less advanced countries. The purpose of this paper is to explore the success and failure factors in the Pakistani software environment using Qualitative research analysis approach. For this purpose, almost thirty software houses were targeted from four provinces of Pakistan and collected perception-based data through questionnaires and interviews from related personals. We further elaborate and compare some critical factors from past literatures in this research. Finally, the outcomes and findings showed better management and development aspects for a healthy software project growth in the domain of Pakistan. The importance of this research is to cover both theoretical and practical dimensions of software project management. We have found that proper scheduling, appropriate estimation of cost and time, Agile methodology, RMMM (risk mitigation, monitoring, management) approach, team bonding, team or staff motivational and communication factors significantly affected on successful projects.

The article projected the outcome of a research and Development (R&D) design on an Interactive Multimedia Computer Application which was implemented to be an English Subject learning module, teaching descriptive texts, for the students at a Junior High School, SMP Swasta Dwi Tunggal, Kota Medan. The App, “Devourlish”, is a multi-platform App, capable run-on both Personal computers (PC) and Smartphones; The Google-Play and Apple-Apps Store Ecosystems. The process was formative teaching as the evaluation phases (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) ADDIE of R&D design for the seventh grade, which was conducted in collaboration with the English teacher at the school, highlighted the students’ engagement to interactive learning apps and enlisted the students’ learning experiences on descriptive texts. The result indicated the apps was very highly practical since the average score in both phases were 3.69 and 3.74 respectively proving learning achievement as the potential effect in term of evaluated formative phases. Additionally, the apps also high potential effect after being tried out in the classroom, which is an application quality control for ADDIE in R&D design, reaching out to 80 % of the students learning achievement. Eventually, the success of the app to facilitate English subject learning experiences the effort to draw the student's interest, to make the “Devourlish” accepted, and to affect ADDIE in an R&D design.
