“…This point is also showed with the width of the estimated 95% CIs at each time period, however long‐term results of this cohort are similar to previous reports 7,9,10 . We also found that TO‐MUS effectiveness slightly decreases over time as it has also been reported by other groups 10,16–20 . Interestingly, we have observed that, being previously cured, the risk of failure is higher during the first year after surgery and that that risk is markedly reduced in subsequent years.…”

“…In fact, the tendency analysis on the multivariate adjusted model shows a lineal association where a higher obesity class confers a higher incidence of failure. The same variables have been described as risk factors for TO‐MUS failure in previous reports 8,16,22 . This could result of special clinical interest when counseling a woman about treatment options for SUI and mainly regarding BMI which represents a potentially modifiable risk factor.…”

“…We noted that success rates wane with longer follow‐up and late failures occur. Similarly, Moskowitz et al 10 found that women who were subjectively dry within the first 1.5 years after transobturator MUS had a 74% and 50% chance of remaining dry at 3 and 5 years, respectively. Likewise, in a retrospective cohort study of nearly 35,000 women who underwent transobturator MUS, Gurol‐Urganci et al 11 cited the reoperation rate for SUI to be 1.3% at 1 year, 3.5% at 5 years, and 4.5% at 9 years.…”
