Analysis of the Deformation Law of Deep and Large Foundation Pits in Soft Soil Areas

Abstract: Taking a deep excavation in Suzhou soft soils adopting three support schemes as the background, the excavation performance metrics, including the heave and lateral deformation of diaphragm walls, surface vertical deformation, vertical deformation of surrounding buildings, and earth pressure, are thoroughly investigated based on 15 excavation cases collected in the soft soil area of Suzhou. Based on the analysis of monitoring data, some findings were achieved: the foundation pit deformation is greatly affected … Show more

“…Therefore, it can be concluded that the model used in this study is reliable and the parameters and simulation process can accurately describe the displacement of the soil behind the wall after excavation. Moreover, there is a certain range of uplift in the soil behind the wall in the secondary influence area, which is consistent with the findings of Tao et al [40].…”

“…All these exceed the average of the overall risk and prevention, and control should be the main focus. In the work decomposition structure, the scores of muck transportation and pipe jacking mud, soil silo construction pressure, lining assembly, cave entrance construction and soil 8 Geofluids reinforcement, and soil reinforcement at the entrance ranked top 5 that can be identified as the work process that is worth attending to, in the mechanical connecting aisle construction process [30].…”

“…Subway station construction in urban areas may also involve dealing with geological conditions such as hard rock strata. For foundation pits with hard surrounding rocks, conventional in-time supporting schemes and sequences for deep foundation pits with soft surrounding rocks are effective enough to control the corresponding displacements during excavation process but may lead to over-support of the foundation pits considering that the surrounding hard rocks have certain strengths and thus the displacement of the surrounding rocks is relatively lower than that of soft surrounding rocks [20,21]. As a result, conventional in-time supports for foundation pits with hard surrounding rocks could lead to unnecessary costs, increased manpower, and longer construction durations.…”
