Analysis of the Distributions of Displacement and Eddy Currents in the Ferrite Core of an Electromagnetic Transducer Using the 2D Approach of the Edge Element Method and the Harmonic Balance Method

Abstract: The negative impact of the displacement currents on the operation of electromagnetic converters results in additional losses and faster insulation degradation, as well as the self-resonance phenomenon. Effective measurement of the dielectric displacement currents in converters is quite complex; thus, advanced simulation programs should be used. However, currently, they do not enable the analysis of the systems in terms of the displacement currents distribution. In order to elaborate an effective tool for analy… Show more

“…Paper [5] is interested in the challenges of maintaining voltage quality in distribution networks, given that the increasing inclusion of renewable energy is completed using inverters, which can cause significant deformation of the output signals, while harmonics can be caused by nonlinear loads connected to the supply system.…”

“…In further research, a field model of the motor under consideration was developed. In the analysis of SynRM machines, due to the strong influence of the core nonlinearity, field models based on the Finite Element Analysis (FEM) are commonly used [21,31]. The use of advanced simulation techniques reduces the cost and time of building and testing motor prototypes.…”

“…The Harmonic Balance Method (HBM) [26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33] gives the possibility of analyzing solutions of mathematic model equations of electrical machines in case of periodic variation of their coefficients; it is a simple extension of the symbolic method and leads to algebraization of the machine description in steady states. This approach is competitive with FEM analysis and allows to combine the electromagnetic phenomena occurring in the process of energy conversion in electrical machines.…”
