Analysis of the effects of main design parameters variation on the vibration characteristics of a vehicle sub-frame

Abstract: In the design process of an automobile part, several analysis methods are usually used to evaluate the performance of the part. However, most automobile design engineers do not directly use CAE ( computer aided engineering) tools since specific skills are required to obtain practical results. Moreover, CAE requires a huge amount of computation time and cost. To resolve these problems, a new design approach, termed first order analysis (FOA), has been proposed. In this paper, the FOA technique is employed to de… Show more

“…Its modal parameters (vibration mode, damping ratio and frequency) will also change when the structure is damaged or the physical parameters (mass, stiffness and damping) change. Bum et al used first order analysis technology to design a vehicle sub-frame and proposed an equivalent model of vehicle sub-frame composed only of beam elements (Kim et al, 2009). Shrinidhi et al used ANSYS software to analyze the ladder frame and extracted the first six non-zero natural frequencies and their corresponding modes of vibration (Rao and Bhattu, 2019).…”

“…With development of elementary theory of nonlinear mechanics in recent years, the nonlinear vibration resolving has begun to be applied to research on terramechanics of wheeled vehicles with some achievements made [10,11]. For the rubber track system running gear outfitted with rubber track plate, it is of great importance to use related theories to illuminate the influence of vibration characteristics in running course on vehicle stability [12][13][14]. The main purpose of this research is to build dynamic model for rubber track system, in the hope of decreasing the harmonic vibrations and increasing operating stability in running of rubber tracked vehicle.…”

“…Twist locks are provided to hold the containers safely and rigidly on the platform of the vehicle or on the base of trailer. The twist lock locations on the platform, the load pattern inside the containers, load intensity, location of centre of gravity, the wheel base, self-weight of the platform, axle load distribution, approach and departure angles, ramp angle of the vehicle, trailer length, front & rear overhangs, vehicle width or height form the most important deign constraints of the chassis mounted platform [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12].…”
